Chapter 10 - Forever and AlwaysThe ceremony was everything we had dreamed of—intimate, sacred, and filled with genuine, hard-won joy.

As we stood beneath a white floral arbor overlooking the sparkling expanse of Lake Michigan, surrounded by thirty of our dearest friends and family members, the minister’s voice carried softly on the warm summer breeze.
“Do you, Ethan, take Clara to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love her, honor her, and cherish her through all the storms of life, for as long as you both shall live?”
Ethan looked into my eyes, his gaze steady, full of an undying devotion that time and deception could never break.
“I do,” Ethan said clearly, sliding a platinum band onto my finger.
“And do you, Clara, take Ethan to be your lawfully wedded husband, to stand by his side through every trial and triumph, for as long as you both shall live?”
I smiled, my heart overflowing with peace. “I do.”
Noah proudly marched down the center aisle, handed us the velvet ring pillow with absolute solemnity, and then cheered loudly the moment the minister pronounced us husband and wife.
“You may kiss the bride,” the minister smiled.
Ethan pulled me close, his lips meeting mine in a deep, tender, passionate kiss that wiped away every tear, every heartache, and every lost year we had ever suffered. Around us, our guests erupted into applause, and Richard Blackwood stood smiling proudly, wiping a stray tear from his eye.
At the reception dinner under a starlit canopy on the lawn, Noah fell asleep with his head pillowed gently on Richard’s lap while the string quartet played softly in the background.
Ethan pulled me onto the dance floor, wrapping his strong arms securely around my waist as we swayed slowly to the music.
“Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Blackwood,” Ethan whispered, resting his chin on top of my head.
I looked up at him, smiling as the cool lake breeze rustled the leaves above us.
“I was just thinking,” I murmured, “that sometimes getting lost is the only way you finally find your way home.”

Ethan tightened his embrace, pressing a soft kiss to my lips. “We’re never getting lost again. I love you, Clara. Forever and always.”
“Forever and always,” I whispered back, resting my head against his heart as the stars shone brightly down upon our family, unbroken and finally whole at last.
