Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable ArchitectLater that night, after the gala had wound down and the guests had drifted out into the crisp Boston night, I rode the private elevator up to the rooftop terrace of the Copley Plaza.

The city spread out before me like a vast sea of glittering diamonds. The Charles River shimmered under the moonlight, reflecting the lights of the bridges connecting the old city to the horizon.

Agent Robert Thorne was waiting by the stone balustrade, holding two crystal flutes of sparkling cider. He handed me one as I rolled up beside him, looking out over the skyline.

"You knocked it out of the park tonight, Sarah," Thorne said, clinking his glass against mine. "Half the city council was asking me how they can invest in your foundation."

"They're welcome to write checks," I laughed lightly, taking a sip of the crisp, bubbly cider. "As long as they understand I’m running the show now."

"Oh, I don't think anyone is foolish enough to doubt your management skills anymore," Thorne smiled, shaking his head. "By the way, I got word from the federal penitentiary upstate this afternoon. Your sister tried to file an emergency appeal claiming prison food violated her constitutional rights."

"And?"

"The judge threw it out in five minutes," Thorne chuckled. "She's going to be spending a very long, quiet decade reflecting on the architectural integrity of federal cell blocks."

I looked out at the vast expanse of the city, breathing in the cool night air. The wind caught the fabric of my velvet gown, rustling the cloth softly.

My half-sister had tried to break me. She had used steel, deception, and calculated cruelty to crush my spine and bury my future. She thought she had engineered my permanent destruction.

Instead, she had inadvertently forged me into something far more powerful than she could ever comprehend.

I wasn't the fragile, compliant girl who had stood trembling in front of the vanity on her wedding morning. I was an architect of my own destiny—scarred, unbroken, and fiercely unstoppable.

The city lights stretched out infinitely before me, waiting to be designed. And for the first time in my life, every single blueprint was entirely my own.
