Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon(Length: ~1800 words)

Five years later.

The golden light of a Northern California sunset painted the sky in magnificent shades of orange, purple, and gold over my Napa Valley estate.

A long wooden dining table was set up on the sunlit terrace, decorated with fresh flowers, platters of delicious food, and glasses of fine wine.

Laughter and joyful conversation filled the warm evening air.

Miguel, Carlos, Sarah, Richard Vance, and their families were gathered around the table, celebrating the firm's twenty-fifth anniversary. Children were playing on the lawn near the lavender gardens, while my team toasted to a quarter-century of success.

I stood near the edge of the stone terrace, wearing a beautiful navy silk dress, holding a glass of wine, looking out over the rolling hills.

My life was full, rich, and abundantly blessed.

Our company was now recognized as one of the premier sustainable landscape architecture firms in the Western United States, generating millions in revenue while lifting up every worker who wore our logo.

As for Gregory Whitaker, he remained a distant memory of a past that no longer held a single drop of power over my heart. He lived his quiet, small life, while I lived the grand, beautiful life I had earned with my own mind and hands.

Miguel walked over to the edge of the terrace, holding his glass high, a warm, emotional smile on his face.

"A toast!" Miguel called out to the table.

Everyone quieted down, raising their glasses under the glowing sunset sky.

"To Deborah," Miguel said, his voice thick with deep respect and affection. "A boss who never gave up on her crew, a woman who built an empire on truth, and the real foundation of everything we are today!"

"To Deborah!" everyone cheered in unison, clinking their glasses together under the warm summer breeze.

I stood surrounded by the people who respected me, loved me, and stood beside me through every storm.

I took a deep, full breath of the sweet, fresh air, feeling the warm sunshine on my skin, and looked out over the endless, unbroken horizon.

I was safe. I was honored. I was whole.

And my life was an empire built on truth that would shine forever.
