Chapter 6 - The UnravelingThe grand ballroom dissolved into chaotic murmurs. High-society reporters scrambled forward, camera flashes exploding in rapid, blinding succession, illuminating the tense standoff in white light.

Donald Hale, a silver-haired, arrogant man in his sixties, pushed his way through the crowd of board members, his face flushed with aristocratic anger.
"What is the meaning of this outrage, Richard?!" Donald bellowed, glaring at the elder Blackwood. "You bring a low-class waitress and her illegitimate child into a private charity event to humiliate my daughter?!"
Richard Blackwood didn't flinch. He raised his mahogany cane, pointing it squarely at Donald’s chest. "She is not a waitress, Donald. She is the mother of my grandson, Noah Blackwood. And as of five minutes ago, her legal team has filed formal criminal complaints for extortion, corporate fraud, and wire manipulation against you and your daughter."
A sudden wave of absolute shock rippled through the gathered elites.
Victoria stepped toward Ethan, her hands shaking, her voice rising into a frantic, desperate pitch. "Ethan, listen to me! This is a setup! Your father is sick, his mind is failing him, and this woman is taking advantage of his condition to ruin us!"
Ethan slowly turned to look at the woman he had almost married. He looked at her flawless makeup, her expensive jewelry, and the hollow, calculating eyes behind her panic.
"I checked the Cayman transfers, Victoria," Ethan said, his voice flat, dead, and utterly devoid of emotion. "Vance found the signature proxies your father signed seven years ago. You paid my mother’s estate assistant three hundred thousand dollars to hide Hannah’s letters in my father’s desk drawer."
Victoria froze. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out.
"You didn't just ruin seven years of my life," Ethan continued, taking a step toward her, his posture towering, terrifying, and absolute. "You deprived a six-year-old boy of his father. You let him grow up believing his mother was alone in the world. And you stood beside me today while I insulted them both."
"Ethan, please—" Victoria sobbed, reaching out to grab his sleeve.
Ethan pulled his arm back as if her touch were toxic. "The engagement is canceled. The merger between Blackwood Holdings and Hale Capital is dissolved effective immediately. And by tomorrow morning, my legal team will begin hostile foreclosure on every single asset your family holds in this city."
Donald Hale gasped, clutching his chest as two uniformed police officers stepped out from the crowd behind the federal prosecutor, producing formal arrest warrants.
"Donald Hale, Victoria Hale," the prosecutor announced, his voice carrying clearly across the silent room. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit grand wire fraud, corporate extortion, and evidence tampering. Please step forward."
As the handcuffs clicked around Victoria’s manicured wrists, she let out a piercing, hysterical shriek, thrashing against the officers as she was led through the parting crowd of high-society guests who had been her friends only an hour before. Flashbulbs continued to pop, capturing the complete, catastrophic downfall of the Hale dynasty for the morning headlines.

Ethan didn't watch her leave. He didn't care about the cameras, the board members, or the financial collapse of his rivals.
He slowly turned around and walked toward the entrance of the ballroom, where Hannah stood holding Noah.
