Chapter 10 - The New DawnSix months after the trial, the world outside my apartment window looked bright, green, and wonderfully ordinary.

I sat at a rustic wooden table in a sunlit corner office in Manhattan, reviewing the initial launch documents for The Bridge Initiative—a newly established non-profit legal defense fund dedicated exclusively to supporting whistleblowers, victims of police corruption, and families shattered by institutional abuse.

My phone buzzed on the desk.

It wasn't a burner phone, and it wasn't an encrypted federal task force alert. It was a normal call from my old university friend inviting me out for coffee.

I smiled, silencing the ringer, and leaned back in my chair.

The physical scars on my face had faded into a faint, silvery line near my cheekbone—a permanent reminder of the night my life was violently upended, but also the night I refused to be a victim any longer.

Charles and Mark were currently thousands of miles away in a maximum-security federal penitentiary, wearing matching orange jumpsuits, living out their days in a world stripped of badges, authority, and intimidation. They were finally learning what real accountability felt like.

And me?

May you like

I was standing entirely on my own two feet, surrounded by people who valued truth over power and courage over silence.

I picked up my pen, signed the final incorporation papers for the foundation, and looked out the window at the bustling New York streets below. The blue wall had fallen, but from its ruins, something infinitely stronger had finally begun to rise.
