Chapter 6 - The Boardroom TrapThe morning sun broke over the glass towers of the financial district, painting the sky in sharp shades of steel grey and gold.

At 8:45 AM, the grand lobby of Cole & Vance Attorneys at Law was buzzing with activity. Partners, senior associates, and corporate representatives filtered into the main building, completely unaware of the storm brewing on the top floor.

Inside the executive boardroom, Julian Vance stood at the head of a massive mahogany table, adjusting his silk tie in the reflection of the floor-to-ceiling windows. He looked pristine, confident, and utterly relaxed. Sitting to his right was Victoria, wearing a dark velvet dress, her eyes expertly made up to look slightly tired and mourning—the perfect image of a devoted wife carrying a heavy burden.

Seated around the table were ten senior partners, three corporate auditors, and the firm's chief legal counsel.

"Thank you all for coming on such short notice," Julian began, his voice carrying a practiced weight of solemn authority. "As many of you know, my dear friend and managing partner, Arthur Cole, has been struggling with severe, undisclosed health issues over the past few months."

Victoria pulled out a delicate handkerchief, dabbing lightly at the corner of her eye.

"It pains me deeply to say this," Julian continued, holding up a sleek black leather folder, "but last night, Arthur suffered a profound psychological collapse at home. He became violent, endangered his own family, and fled the premises. In light of these tragic events, Mrs. Cole has exercised her power of attorney to execute this emergency corporate transition."

Julian opened the folder, displaying a document bearing my personal signature and official notary stamp.

"This document surrenders Arthur's voting shares and managing authority to me, effective immediately," Julian announced smoothly. "To protect the firm's stability, we will immediately initiate the transfer of the capital reserves into our designated secure holding accounts."

The senior partners murmured among themselves, looking at the documents with concern and surprise.

"Is the notary present to verify the signature?" the chief legal counsel asked, leaning forward.

"Of course," Victoria chimed in, her voice sweet and fragile. "It was notarized by our private family notary late yesterday evening, right before Arthur's condition deteriorated."

Julian stepped toward the digital podium, inserting a flash drive to initiate the wire transfer authorization on the boardroom screen. "If there are no objections, we will proceed with the vote to ratify—"

BOOM.

The heavy double doors of the boardroom burst open with a deafening crash.

Every head in the room snapped toward the entrance.

I stepped into the boardroom.

I wasn't wearing a hospital gown, nor did I look like a confused, broken man. I was dressed in a sharp, bespoke charcoal suit, my hair perfectly combed, my posture commanding, and my eyes locked onto Julian and Victoria with lethal intensity.

Walking directly beside me was Frank Miller, two uniformed Federal Marshals, and three senior officers from the State Police Financial Crimes Unit.

Victoria gasped, dropping her glass of water onto the table. The crystal shattered, spilling water across the polished wood.

Julian went completely white, his hand freezing over the podium keyboard. "A-Arthur...?"

"Good morning, everyone," I said, my voice echoing clearly through the silent room. "Please, don't let me interrupt the presentation."
