Chapter 4 - The Unraveling at the OfficeWhile Brandon was busy scrambling to figure out how his lavish, multi-layered deception had collapsed in less than forty-eight hours, the shockwaves of my legal maneuvers were rippling outward through his professional and personal life.

By Tuesday afternoon, Marcus informed me that Brandon had been locked out of his corporate email account at his wealth management firm. Why? Because my attorney had formally notified the firm’s compliance department that one of their senior wealth managers was under active criminal investigation for embezzling funds from his wife’s corporate accounts to purchase undisclosed real estate with a subordinate.
In the financial sector, embezzlement and undeclared conflicts of interest with subordinates are absolute career executioners.
At four o’clock, I received a text message from an unknown number. I opened it out of sheer morbid curiosity.
Unknown: Please, Savannah. We need to talk. Brandon is losing his mind, and my name is dragged into this mess. Please call me.
The sender ID preview identified her: Chloe Sterling.
I stared at the screen, a cold, predatory satisfaction curling in my chest. The mistress wanted to negotiate terms. She had likely discovered that the Alpharetta townhouse—the luxurious nest egg Brandon had promised her—was currently padlocked by a court-ordered asset freeze, meaning she couldn't move in, sell it, or even park her car in the driveway without facing contempt of court charges.

I replied with a single sentence:
Me: Meet me at the Starbucks on Peachtree and 14th. Tomorrow at ten a.m. Don't be late.
