Chapter 3 - The Shattered FaçadeWe arrived at Dominic’s private estate in the hills within half an hour. The mansion was a fortress—secluded, quiet, and protected by top-tier security. The moment we stepped through the front doors, a private medical team that Gabriel had arranged was waiting in the wing.

"I don't want to go to a hospital," I murmured as Matteo gently helped me take off my coat.
"You're not going to a hospital, sweetheart," Matteo said, his voice unusually soft for a man who managed global ports with an iron fist. "Dr. Chen is top-tier. She’s private, completely discreet, and she’s family."
Dr. Chen led me into a pristine medical suite. As she carefully cleansed the raw welts on my back, I couldn't hold back a quiet gasp of pain.
Outside the door, through the frosted glass, I could hear my brothers pacing. The quiet rumble of their low voices sounded like a gathering storm.
"Thirty strikes," Nico was saying, his voice deadly. "He whipped her thirty times in front of fifty people."
"He's going to rot in a federal maximum-security facility," Luca replied, the sound of papers rustling accompanying his words. "I’ve already contacted the U.S. Attorney’s office. The evidence Gabriel gathered on Cole Construction’s illegal government contracts is ironclad. They'll be indicted by sunrise."
When Dr. Chen finished dressing my wounds, she gave me a gentle pat on the shoulder. "The skin will heal, Elena. You're strong. But you need rest."
I changed into a soft silk robe and stepped out into the living room. My five brothers stopped talking immediately, turning to look at me. In their eyes, I saw a terrifying combination of rage and deep, aching protectiveness.
"Elena," Gabriel said, handing me a warm cup of herbal tea. "Sit down. You don't have to talk if you don't want to."
"I want to talk," I said, taking a sip. The warmth bloomed in my chest, steadying my nerves. "I spent two years playing the quiet, dutiful wife. I let Margaret insult my background. I let Adrian treat me like an accessory. I thought if I was patient enough, he would change. I thought he loved me."
"He's a narcissist, Elena," Luca said, pulling up a tablet. "He never loved anyone but himself and his money. And speaking of money... you need to see this."
Luca flipped the tablet toward me. On the screen was a detailed bank ledger detailing transaction histories over the last eight months.
"Adrian didn't just spend money on Vanessa," Luca explained. "He used your personal foundation—the charity foundation you set up for underprivileged children—as a laundering front. He shifted nearly twelve million dollars out of the charity account to cover his personal gambling debts in Macau and to buy Vanessa a luxury villa in Malibu."
My breath hitched. "He stole from the children's charity?"
"He thought you were too naive to ever audit the accounts," Gabriel chimed in, a cold smirk on his face. "He thought you just sat at home arranging flowers. He didn't realize you kept duplicate ledgers."
"What about Vanessa?" I asked, my eyes narrowing.
Nico leaned against the mantle, a dark grin spreading across his face. "Vanessa Hart isn't just an aspiring interior designer, Elena. Her real name is Vanessa Jenkins. She’s a professional corporate grifter. She’s been targeting high-net-worth married men for the past six years, blackmailing them or milking them dry before moving on. Adrian thought he was a mastermind, but he was just her latest mark."
"Does Adrian know?"
"Not yet," Nico chuckled. "He thinks she’s his soulmate. He thinks she loves him for his brilliant mind."
I set my teacup down on the mahogany table. The pain in my back was fading, replaced by a cold, sharp determination.
"I don't just want them ruined legally," I said softly, looking at each of my brothers in turn. "I want Adrian to know that every single piece of his life was destroyed by the woman he called a 'nobody.'"

Dominic stepped forward, placing a hand gently on my head, just like he used to when we were kids.
"Your word is our command, little sister," Dominic said. "Tomorrow morning, the Cole family empire goes to execution."
