Chapter 9 - The Return to BrooklynThat evening, after the guests at the gallery had departed, my brothers and I took two cars down to South Brooklyn—to the old neighborhood where we had grown up.

We walked down the brick sidewalks of 4th Avenue, where the old Italian bakery still stood on the corner, smelling of fresh bread and garlic.

It was the street where my father had taught my brothers how to stand up for their family, and where my mother had taught me that true grace is never loud.

We sat together at a large outdoor table at Giuseppe's—the small, family-owned trattoria where our family had celebrated birthdays, graduations, and victories for thirty years.

Old man Giuseppe himself came out from the kitchen, carrying two massive platters of homemade pasta, wine, and warm bread.

"Look at you all!" Giuseppe beamed, wiping his hands on his apron. "The Moretti family! All together again! Anna, my dear, you look like an angel."

"Thank you, Giuseppe," I smiled, hugging the old man warmly.

As the sun set over the Brooklyn skyline, painting the sky in deep shades of gold and purple, we sat around the long table, drinking wine, eating pasta, and sharing stories from our childhood.

Nico recounted the time Leo had accidentally hacked the neighborhood traffic lights when he was twelve. Dominic showed us his latest financial charts for our charity foundation. Matteo talked about his upcoming pro-bono cases, while Luca sat at the head of the table, watching us all with quiet, profound satisfaction.

For twelve years, my family had lived in the shadows of their reputation, carrying the weight of a dangerous past. But through love, unity, and absolute loyalty, we had transformed that darkness into light.

I reached out and took Luca's hand on my right, and Nico's hand on my left.

"To family," Luca said, lifting his wineglass high into the evening air.

"To family," all five of my brothers echoed in unison, their glasses clinking together over the center of the table.
