Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece(Length: ~1800 words)

Two years later.

The warm summer sun painted the sky in magnificent shades of gold and pink over the terrace of our new home in the hills above San Francisco.

The estate was surrounded by blooming lavender gardens, sunlit stone courtyards, and floor-to-ceiling glass pavilions overlooking the Bay Bridge.

A long wooden dining table was set under the shade of a vine-covered pergola, loaded with fresh pasta, fresh bread, and platters of summer fruits.

Nolan sat at the head of the table, laughing warmly as he chatted with Julian’s sister and her husband, sipping fine Italian wine.

I walked out from the kitchen wearing an exquisite sky-blue silk dress, my skin glowing with radiant health and happiness, carrying a platter of grilled summer peaches.

Julian stepped up beside me, gently taking the heavy platter from my hands, wrapping his arm around my waist, and kissing my cheek with deep, devoted affection.

"Everything looks perfect, my love," Julian whispered warmly.

"Because my whole world is right here, Julian," I smiled, resting my head against his chest.

Over the past two years, Julian and I had married in a quiet, beautiful ceremony on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Together, we had expanded our joint foundation, building over fifty sustainable schools and community centers across three continents.

My phone chimed on the terrace side table with a brief news notification.

I opened the file quietly while Julian helped set the table.

It was an official notice confirming that Derek Vance’s second petition for early parole had been denied by the State Parole Board, ensuring he would remain behind bars for the full duration of his eight-year sentence.

I laid the phone back down on the table, feeling a deep, unshakeable sense of complete, eternal peace.

Three years ago, Derek and Clara had stood near a flight monitor in Terminal 3, believing they had erased my voice, stolen my wealth, and destroyed my future.

They had never realized that by betraying me, they had simply unlocked my freedom, forged my strength, and guided me directly toward my true destiny.

I took Julian’s hand into mine, stepping up to the edge of the terrace balustrade, looking out over the sparkling lights of the city below under the glowing evening stars.
