Chapter 1 - The Ring in the RainThe ballroom inside the Grand Wellington Hotel sparkled with crystal chandeliers, white roses, and cameras flashing from every direction as billionaire tech investor Nathaniel Hayes stood smiling beside his high-society bride.

“Do you take Victoria Sinclair to be your lawful wife?” the officiant asked warmly.
Nathaniel opened his mouth to answer—
Then the double ballroom doors suddenly slammed open.
A pregnant woman stumbled inside wearing a wrinkled beige coat over a faded maternity dress. Her face was pale, her dark hair damp from rain, and her breathing uneven as every guest turned toward her in confusion.
Nathaniel’s expression instantly drained of color.
“Emily?” he whispered.
The room erupted into murmurs.
Victoria frowned sharply, her lace veil fluttering as she turned. “Who is that?”
Emily Carter ignored everyone else and stared directly at Nathaniel with trembling eyes.
“You promised me you were handling this privately,” she said weakly, clutching her stomach. “You said you needed more time.”
Victoria looked between them in disbelief. “Nathaniel… what is she talking about?”
Before he could answer, Emily’s knees buckled. Her body collapsed onto the polished marble floor.
Guests screamed.
Several people rushed forward as Nathaniel dropped beside her instinctively, abandoning his place under the floral altar.
“Call an ambulance!” someone shouted.
As Emily struggled to breathe, one of the bridesmaids noticed a platinum band sliding from Emily’s slick, rain-soaked fingers during the chaos.
She picked it up automatically—
Then froze.
Inside the ring were engraved words.
“Nathaniel & Emily Hayes — Forever Begins, June 12.”
The bridesmaid’s face turned white.
Victoria snatched the ring from her hand and stared at the inscription herself, her chest heaving beneath her thousand-dollar gown.
The ballroom fell into a horrifying silence.
Because June 12 was three years ago. Long before Nathaniel ever met Victoria publicly.
Victoria slowly looked up at him, her eyes burning with pure venom.
“You’re already married?”
Nathaniel couldn’t speak.
Emily weakly touched her stomach through tears as paramedics rushed into the venue. “I didn’t come here to ruin your wedding,” she whispered painfully. “I came because our baby deserves better than being hidden.”
The guests exploded into utter chaos.

Phones came out instantly, recording every second. Reporters crammed near the entrance began whispering frantically into their recording devices. Nathaniel’s aristocratic family looked completely stunned, while Victoria’s father looked ready to commit murder.
And standing in the center of it all, Victoria realized the man she was about to marry had secretly built his entire empire—and his engagement—on a devastating lie.
