Chapter 8 - The Shareholder ShowdownFour weeks later.

The grand auditorium of the Metropolitan Financial Center was packed with over three hundred shareholders, journalists, and financial analysts.
At the center of the main stage sat Eleanor Hayes, flanked by her team of four high-priced defense attorneys. She looked worn, but her eyes still held a bitter, defiant pride.
Beside her sat the board members who still remained loyal to her legacy.
The heavy side doors opened, and the room fell completely silent.
Victoria Sinclair walked down the center aisle, guiding Emily Carter. Emily wore an elegant dark blue maternal dress, her posture straight, her head held high, looking every bit the poised, dignified woman she was.
Behind them walked Harrison Sinclair and a team of independent financial auditors.
Eleanor leaned into her microphone, her voice echoing through the speakers. "This meeting is an illegal farce! Emily Carter has no standing to speak on behalf of the Hayes family trust!"
Harrison Sinclair stepped up to the guest podium, adjusting his glasses. "Per the judicial order issued by the State Supreme Court yesterday morning, the thirty percent founding block has been officially unfrozen and assigned to the legal estate of the late Arthur Hayes’s direct heir."
He turned to look at Emily.
"As the legal spouse of Nathaniel Hayes at the time of conception, Emily Hayes holds full proxy voting rights until the child reaches adulthood."
Murmurs rippled through the audience.
"It doesn't matter!" Eleanor shouted, standing up from her chair. "Even with her thirty percent, my block and Nathaniel's combined shares equal forty-five percent! You cannot override the board!"
"Actually, Eleanor," a quiet voice spoke from the back of the auditorium.
The crowd turned.
Nathaniel walked down the aisle. He wore a simple dark suit, his face clean-shaven, his posture firm. He didn't look at his mother; he looked straight at Emily.
Eleanor gasped. "Nathaniel... sit down at the head table where you belong!"
Nathaniel walked past the stage, stopped at the public voting microphone, and inserted his electronic proxy key.
"As the holder of fifteen percent individual voting equity in Hayes Global," Nathaniel spoke clearly into the microphone, his voice echoing across the auditorium, "I officially cast my entire voting block... in favor of Emily Hayes’s motion to liquidate the current board of directors and remove Eleanor Hayes permanently from all corporate entities."
The room erupted into absolute chaos.
Flashbulbs exploded everywhere. Shareholders began cheering and shouting.

Eleanor stared at her son in utter horror, stumbling backward into her chair. "You... you traitor! I built you!"
Nathaniel finally turned to face his mother, his eyes filled with a quiet, profound sadness. "You didn't build me, Mother. You used me. And today, it ends."
